Grade 7

Students will be bringing Unit 1 test home to review and for signatures. Students are looking at the characteristics of a natural environment and animals that survive in unique situations. We will be discussing the cod crises of the 1990's; as well as, our interaction with the environment.

Grade 8

Students will be bringing Unit 1 test home to review and for signatures. Students are describing the population distribution and density of various countries; as well as, the factors that influence populations: natural growth rate of the population; net migration rate; and the variance in population. We will also discuss demographic trends in the world.

Grade 7

This week the students will be having a test on Chapter 1 focusing on: new vocabulary, what is public transportation and its advantages, how to find absolute location of a site, and a choice question on one of a) the advantages of transporting merchandise using containers, or b) the advantages and disadvantages of transporting merchandise by truck. We will also begin Chapter 2 vocabulary about the environment and its interactions.

Grade 8

This week the students will be having a test on Chapter 1 focusing on: new vocabulary, important differences between rural and urban communities, drawing a scheme of the planning zones of a city, and a choice question on one of a) how do urban planners plan for communities, or b) describe the types of sites where communities establish themselves. We will also begin Chapter 2 vocabulary about exploring the constants in demographics.
